Editor's review
This is an electronic form of the pilot’s log that works equally well on the Windows as well as Mac platforms. The database is easily transferable too.
Pilot eLog is a robust, feature-rich, user-friendly cross-platform electronic logbook for pilots. The interface is straightforward, uncluttered and intuitive and looks like the paper logbooks that pilots are used to. The main logbook screen provides a lot of without the need for going to any other screens. The upper portion of the display has logbook entries as could be expected. The recent entries are at the bottom and the spreadsheet style display can be sorted by clicking on any of the columns as with the spreadsheets. Double clicking on a row gets it ready for editing. The lower portion of the display is a status panel providing up to date key metrics. The view select control will let you set filters that can arrange the display based on the specific criteria you need. Add new entries or print reports or forms directly from the main screen.
The rich set of features includes the following. Expiry status of all ratings is color coded so that the pilot knows exactly when they are up for renewal. Automatic updates are available for your BFR due date, next medical due date, day/night/instrument landing rating currency status etc. The data is available on your own personal computer not in the cyberspace on some web server. Further, back up and restores are managed to safeguard the data at all times. Total flight time can be entered either by entering the start and stop Hobbs time or by directly inputting the total time.
